Today, July 25, 2008, the ActiveRain Real Estate Network reaches a milestone -- 100,000 members! In just over two years, ActiveRain has grown from an idea in Bellevue, WA to an amazing and vibrant online community of real estate agents, lenders, stagers, home inspectors, virtual assistants and others connected with the real estate industry.
Congratulations to Jonathan Washburn, Matt Heaton and the entire ActiveRain Team on this extraordinary accomplishment! Thank you for your constant dedication and innovation as you work to build and improve this incredible network.
To fully appreciate where ActiveRain is today, it is helpful to look to its past. These posts from The Official ActiveRain Blog provide some great insights and perspectives. Enjoy!

John~ Yes it is 99,938 right now, so we are almost there..... hard to believe it would happen that fast! Now we have to watch out ofr 200,000 members!
I think you are right, today just may be 100k day. I really liked looking at the previous posts. Thanks!
John -
We're damn close - let's check in after lunch. Are you serving the champagne for the 100,000 member party?
What an incredible job - in incredible online community - the AR Team has created here. Don't know how I would get through the day without it - although, admitedly, I would get to see my family a little bit more!
DEAN & DEAN'S TEAM CHICAGO
What a fantastic ride. Wish I was on from the start.
Vickie and Dean - We've already passed 100,000. The number at the top of the page only updates once a day. To see up-to-the-minute, go here and then click on the last page number (currently 4001) at the bottom of the screen. Looks like we broke 100,000 between 9:30 and 10:00 AM PST.
Cool, we made it to 100,000 it should anly take us another year to hit 200,000.
Take care!
RJH
I was wondering how you figured out we passed the 100,000 mark.
Wow! What a remarkable moment in AR History, right along with the others. Ahhhh, remember when John..? Thanks fro putting that together...flagged for feature!
Hi John,
What a remarkable achievement. Thanks for the graph. That really puts it into perspective. I see that the numbers are ramping up even faster after about March of this year. Apparently there is still significant growth potential for the future.
John,
Thanks for sharing this information. It amazes me how quickly the network grew and will continue to grow! I can't imagine where it will be by 2010! Kudos to the Active Rain Team for establishing this great forum for all in the industry to come together in! Continued success Active Rain!
Yes congratulations to the team at Active Rain this is a good site.
And the convention is when ? Somewhere sunny in the winter....balmy in the spring...we could do it you know....we have the talent, the numbers.....Hey Rain Gods, Whaddya think ?
Great chart and congrats to Active Rain for hitting this milestone of 100,000 members!
That is a lot of people / members!
Jihn,
Never thought we would hit 100K that quick.
Amazing isn't it! It will be interesting to see when they hit 200k and if it takes less time!
John - You spend some time researching the articles to include in this post. It is fun to look at the progress activerain has made in the last two years. Great reading for all of us to look back on.
You're right! AR has hit a milestone! It wont be long and we'll be celebrating 200K, then before you know it it'll be a million members and counting!
Have a great weekend!
John
thanks for the list of blasts from the past. when we first started there were about 20K members, as I recall. And our thought was we started late. We're thining there will be a lot more coming.
best
Hi John and congrats on the feature, it's well deserved. This post, presentation and trip back in time is such a nice way to see how far AR has come.
I'm seeing an acceleration in membership. It would be cool to lay a chart of "active" members over that to see how many are really participants.
Thanks for all of the great links to the past. I joined in mid 2007 so it was fun going back and reading those first posts. Here is an example of a vision that became a reality...wow!
Thank you Active Rain! I joined last year in June (I think) and it's amazing to see how fast membership has grown.
It is amazing to me how fast AR is growing. I appreciate the previous posts as well.
John - Great reasearch to add to the occasion. ... Simply amazing we are now at #100178 and as pointed out above at our current growth rate we should easily hit 200,000 in about 1 years time.
I am impressed and happy to be apart of this wonderful nextwork.
This is a fantastic accomplishment! Onward and upward!

Great day for all of ActiveRain! It will grow like wildfire now, the word is out.....at least, I spread it every day.
John,
What an explosion in membership! The network has nationwide notariety, and for good reason. I'm thankful I joined in the early stages and have been able to benefit professionally and personally.
Amazing, When I joined 9/11/07 there were around 43K members...in less than a year it's more than doubled since. What a great job you guy's are doing! Thanks! K
I've been watching that number ticking for the last two weeks. Congrats everyone!
Opps, thought I was logged in....
I've been watching that number ticking for the last two weeks. Congrats everyone!
I did not realize it had been just over two years. That is quite an accomplishment.
Great chart. It looks like some big real estate companies use to be....up, up, up but NOT anymore. Thanks for the history posts, John. Glad this was featured to get more exposure.
LOL John...
I'm surprised we didn't bump into each other on Active Rain's Official Blog. I had the same idea as you. I have a similar post in my docs. You can't imagine how dumb I would've felt if I posted it and had not seen this first :)
What it is they say? Great minds think alike :)
TLW...ROAR!
John,
Thanks for putting this together! I'm going to read my way through the links.

John, something tells me that we won't take two years to reach the next 200,000!
Patricia...

Good thing I gave up try to keep up :)

Wow John- that's some great research and a nice set of links. Every business would want a growth curve like that one.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN!
John - Thanks for the 24 months in review. It's part of my getting plugged back in process!
I am proud to say I joined Activerain around the time they were at the 20,000 member mark and it has been one amazing year and half watching it grow so much.
