A great way to build your online presence with a Facebook Fan Page is to look at other successful pages and model what they've done right.
In "Killer Facebook Fan Pages: 5 Inspiring Case Studies" social media and PR exec Callan Green reviews five popular brands and how they engage their consumers on Facebook.
Pringles uses comedy in a series of viral videos. Coca-Cola combined efforts with an existing consumer page and makes extensive use of photos. Adidas holds contests to keep their fans involved.
As Green says, "you have to know your audience ... you need to encourage discussion ... and you must not take yourself too seriously." Take a look at how Pringles, Coca-Cola, Starbucks, Adidas and Red Bull use their Facebook pages, and then apply that to your own page to grow your Fan base and your business.

I am working on making our fan page - and have spent most of the day looking at different things err, I mean doing research :) ~Rita
John, Thanks for the information. I am starting work on my fan page for my Latin America real estate (Paradise4Gringos) and this will really help. Meanwhile, Ibet you have a great Facebook fan page. Do you and may we take a look at it?
Thanks for the information. I have been considering how I might update my facebook page.
HI John, I have not made a fan page yet of facebook. I have not read how to do this , so thank for simplifying for me.
John, one of our local radio stations tells jokes in the mornings and you have to go to their FB or Twitter page to get the punch line. It always exasperates me actually as I'm usually in the car when I hear it and forget to check later. But I know I need to be using both these venues to maximize my online presence and I know I am falling short in that regard right now.
I have set up a business page but not a fan page. I really do not spend much time on Facebook. I'm not sure how much time I want to spend in this office chair looking at this screen. It seems to work, but I miss fishing...jogging...ballgames...
THX for the heads-up, John...now...all I have to do is find the time... =)
Hi John,
Ok, now that I have the information it's up to me, right?
Hi John:
I finally decided that I should put my profile onto Facebook the other week.
I'll have to check this out...
Thanks for the info.
John - Thanks for providing some different ideas and insight on how to build your online presence. Sometimes I do take myself too seriously.
I have had 11 successful sales THIS YEAR using facebook!!
Hi John! What I love about Facebook IS that it is more 'personal'--even the business pages! I think the consumer garners more information there than other social media venues. Thanks for the information--I am always looking at ways to improve my Facebook site and continue garnering solid business from there!
Bookmarked again! Thanks for gathering my homework
