One of the best benefits of living in the master planned community of South Valley Ranch is the City of Henderson's 10-acre Rodeo Park. The Henderson Parks and Recreation department has won national recognition for their facilities, and Rodeo Park is a great example why.

Bounded by single-family homes to the east and the Aspen Peak Condominiums to the west, the public park offers convenient access to a wide array of recreational opportunities for South Valley Ranch residents.

Take a relaxing stroll along the walking trails and enjoy the colorful landscapes of Lantana, Mexican Bird of Paradise, Deer Grass and Bottlebrush; views of Black Mountain to the south and Sunrise Mountain to the north; or brilliant desert sunsets in shades of red, yellow and orange.

Meet family and friends at the covered picnic and barbecue area. It's a popular spot with seating for 30 that hosts neighborhood gatherings, birthdays, holiday weekend cookouts and other special events.

Athletes and weekend warriors can choose from softball, basketball, tennis and sand volleyball -- all lit for nighttime play to beat the desert heat. Children can run, jump, climb, slide and swing at the centally located playground which features a rubber play surface and a big, blue canopy to provide valuable shade.

And let's not forget our four-legged friends. Sundance and I have met many of our neighbors and their canine companions (even a few ferrets!) while walking, running, or just enjoying the beautiful weather that southern Nevada is known for. To get to Rodeo Park, take the I-515 freeway (93/95) to the Russell Road exit and head east to Boulder Highway. Turn right, continue past the stoplight at Gibson/Broadbent, and then turn left at Skyforest Drive. The park will be on your left. Enjoy a day in the park in South Valley Ranch!

If we allow sixty days for escrow and whatever other issues arise from contract to close, that leaves just over two months for first-time buyers to find their dream home.
