In an unequivocal break from the Bush presidency, the Obama administration announced this week that they will no longer refer to the "global war on terror." Instead, our military efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan will be called the "Overseas Contingency Operation."
New label, new perspective, new connotation.
This got me thinking about some of the favorite media terms for our challenging housing market - housing crisis, housing bubble, mortgage meltdown. It's time for some new labels. Maybe they can call it a 'Domestic Residential Adjustment' or 'National Housing Reapportionment.'
More importantly, it's time for agents to step up as the local experts and educate the public. It's time to reinforce that "Real Estate is Local" and help buyers and sellers see the markets within the market. A solid understanding of our local markets is one of the first steps on the road to renewed consumer confidence in real estate. Yes we can ... redefine the housing market.
