ActiveRain: The Road to 100,000 Members

Today, July 25, 2008, the ActiveRain Real Estate Network reaches a milestone -- 100,000 members! In just over two years, ActiveRain has grown from an idea in Bellevue, WA to an amazing and vibrant online community of real estate agents, lenders, stagers, home inspectors, virtual assistants and others connected with the real estate industry.

ActiveRain reaches 100,000 members - July 25, 2008

Congratulations to Jonathan Washburn, Matt Heaton and the entire ActiveRain Team on this extraordinary accomplishment! Thank you for your constant dedication and innovation as you work to build and improve this incredible network.

To fully appreciate where ActiveRain is today, it is helpful to look to its past. These posts from The Official ActiveRain Blog provide some great insights and perspectives. Enjoy!

Views on Localism

With last week's launch of Localism, there was a deluge of comments and posts from ActiveRainers as we tried to embrace and understand this new social platform. What did the rest of the blogosphere think?

Happy Birthday, Jonathan Washburn!

The best online networks have a balance between professional and social content. On ActiveRain, we meet as real estate agents, lenders, stagers, virtual assistants and other members of the real estate community. Over time, these digital relationships become true friendships. We discover common interests, share life experiences, and celebrate successes and milestones.

Today is Jonathan Washburn's 30th birthday - the big 3-0. Along with Matt Heaton, Bob Stewart and Caleb Mardini, Jon is one of the four founders and visionaries of ActiveRain.

In the beginning, he stayed behind the scenes. We first really 'met' Jon in early 2007 during Project Blogger. Later that year, he and his beautiful wife Sara (he married up!) were spotted at several meet-ups around the country to celebrate AR's first anniversary. In November, I and several other Rainers were priveleged to meet Jon, Sara and the rest of the AR Team at The Palms in Las Vegas during the NAR convention.

To kick off 2008, Jon gave us several posts to help improve our blogging. Just last month, REALTOR® Magazine affirmed what many Rainers already knew - that Jon was a driving force in online real estate - when they honored him as one of the '30 Under 30'.

Jon has probably aged a lot quicker over the last couple of weeks with the launch of Localism, but for today he's an even 30. So grab your favorite cold beverage and join me in a toast to Jonathan Washburn. Happy Birthday, Jon!
