Nevada Power Equal Payment Plan

A quick glance at the calendar and a friendly reminder from the weatherman tells me that triple-digit temperatures in Las Vegas are right around the corner. With the heat often comes triple-digit power bills as southern Nevadans try to stay cool.

Electric bills of $2-300 per month can put a strain on homeowner's budgets. To help smooth things out, Nevada Power offers an Equal Payment Plan. Residential customers can choose to pay for their annual power usage in twelve equal payments, making budgeting easier and cushioning the impact of high summer bills.

Here's an example of how the program works. In 2007, my summer bills were $169.48, $221.14, and $193.93, while my winter bills were about $45.00 per month. With the Equal Payment Plan, I would have paid $111.16 per month.
